Garbage Overload

This is what happens when you oversleep on the first garbage pickup after Christmas. I wish the tree wasn't there, so you could see just how much garbage was piled back there. Good thing we have a truck now and thank goodness for the dump.
I bet John looked great driving down the road with our garbage can in the back of his truck.

Bye Bye Green Car

We sold our green car on Saturday. We have had this car for over 11 years. It has been a wonderful, little car and I was kind of sad to see it go, even though it has cost us over $1500 in repairs the last 2 summers. John's Dad generously GAVE us his truck, so it was time to move on.
I made the kids--only Jacey and Jared would do it-- come out in the cold for one last picture.

I found some random pictures with our car in the background. This was pre-kids, maybe 1997 or 1998. I thought this car was so cool when we bought it. Spoiler, sun roof. I was forced to learn how to drive stick with it.

This was after our road rage incident in Utah on I-15 in 1997.

And the sweetest memory-- we brought Jared home from the hospital in this car.
I am sad to see this car go, but John is very happy. He's the one that has been driving it to and from work for the last 7 years. He is also excited to listen to CDs or the FM radio for a change. The little green car only got AM. :) And I have to admit, I've been driving the truck for all of my by myself errands lately. It's fun to drive.

Buddies

Jackson's buddy Talmage came over to play this day. I decided to snap some pictures. Here they are keeping some distance.
They decided to move in closer and pose for the camera.Got a smile out of Jackson for this one.
Awwww
Uh-oh-- Jackson bumped his head.

And this is what the little cutie did later that evening. He pulled a 9x13 casserole pyrex dish out of the cupboard and it shattered on the floor. It made the loudest noise. Totally scared me from the other room, but it didn't even phase him.

The glass flew everywhere. There was even some in the living and dining rooms. Sweet, sweet toddler.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

For our next Christmas performance, we went to see Jacey perform as a star in her preschool's Nativity pageant. She goes to a Catholic preschool and they put on a really cute show every December. She did a great job for about half of the show. She looked SO adorable when she walked down the aisle onto the stage. I wished I would've snapped a picture of that even though cameras are not allowed. Too much crazy parent paparazzi that they had to ban cameras a couple of years ago. I should have snuck one in though. Half way through the performance, Jacey decided that she had had enough. She stopped singing, made a frowny face and proceeded to lift up her shirt. She kept it that way for at least 5 or 6 songs. She looked over at me and I motioned for her to put her shirt down. She shook her head "NO." It finally took her teacher noticing and talking to her mid-performance to get her to stop. Her excuse was that she was hot and tired and wanting to sit down.
I was able to snap a few pictures after the performance.

Jared's Christmas Choir Concert

Jared's Elementary school choir had a Christmas concert last night. Jared did a great job. He had on speaking part and sang a solo. We were there to watch him along with Grandma and Grandpa. I sent them there early to the school to get good seats. We have arrived at things before and had to sit in the very back. They got us seats in the front row!
Waiting for the concert to start

Jared and his best friend Brayden

Papa and Jackson- Jackson's favorite word is "WOW!" said really long and loud. One of the songs was about Christmas Bells and at the end of the song bells were ringing. Jackson let out a huge "WOW" and got some laughs.

I'm Famous

Tonight I'm performing selections from the Messiah and other Christmas music with the Bakersfield Masterworks Chorale. They did an article about us in The Bakersfield Californian and I made it into the picture. If you click to enlarge it, I'm at the very most right of the picture.:) Darn. I can't get the picture to enlarge. Well, you can still barely see me at the edge of the picture.

Thanksgiving 2008

Happy Thanksgiving!
We celebrated Thanksgiving in St. George, Utah this year. We drove on Wednesday and got there about 8PM local time. John's mom had 2 units at an awesome time share reserved for our family and John's sister Lisa's family. We got there and had lots of wonderful family there to greet us and help us carry our stuff in. I didn't take as many pictures as I should have. Darn. After raining all day Thursday, the weather was beautiful on Friday and Saturday. We had a super fun time hanging out with everyone and especially playing the Rage card game with the Hamblins until 2AM every night.

We had a wonderful spread of food. SOOO much food. Still a ton of food left in the fridge after most of us left on Saturday.
After dinner- Emma Hamblin, Mia Hart, Saya Hart, Lisa, Ross and Adam
Grandma, John and Kenny
Jacey LOVES her sweet cousin Emma
Jared and Isaac found lots of time for game playing.
We ventured out Friday night to Tuacahn to see a live nativity. What a great way to start off the holidays. Poor Jackson didn't get to come out that night--he was sick and John decided to stay back with him--
Same picture but Jaden decided to jump in.
Pretending to fall in the water fall.
A ride on the train/tractor
We had no plans to shop on Black Friday, but holiday traffic came to a complete stop on the way home on Saturday at State Line. We decided to get off the freeway and walk around the outlet mall for a few hours. It worked! By the time we got back on the road, the traffic had cleared up. It made for a loooooooonnnnnngggg day though. Poor Jackson wasn't feeling well and moaned pretty much the whole way home. We got home about 11:30PM.
Even though it was a short trip, we had a great time and made lots of fun memories.
